Today there are TLD (Internet top-level domains) for almost everything. Depending on where you’re from, what you do or what you like, you’ll find THE domain name extension that will enhance your identity and make it easier for your visitors to find your site and understand its purposes.

Now, stop reading and look at my url.

Do you get it? Yes, aicragellebasi is now .social.

But that’s not all. isabellegarcia is also .me. Try it! But promise me you’ll come back and finish reading this post!

I registered these two domain names this week at gandi.net, no bullshit! Unsatisfied with all domain name providers I have tried over the years - and believe me, I have tried a lot - I decided to go with them because… they are French.

No, I’m just kidding. The real reason why I chose Gandi.net is because of their “No Bullshit” tagline! and their “alternative approach” of doing business:

“spending no money on advertising, and instead supporting the community of people working on technology that enables the Internet for business, but also for the free and unrestricted sharing of information, and for promoting the respect of individual and citizen rights.”

You still can access both my website and blog through their .com, but now my main domains are isabellegarcia.me and aicragellebasi.social. No worries, I made sure Mr google knows about that change by providing him with 301 redirects and submitting a change of address onto the Google Webmaster Tool, so that hopefully I won’t lose too much positioning.
